Our Founders, magnificent men most, were not gifted with a cake walk, far from it! Most, if not all, had a price put upon their heads by the despots of that period. And our original revolution, was not as unanimously applauded as history would have us believe!
Any man, any real man, is not without his detractors and his personal mistakes. And there will always be those who, for one reason or another, go out of their way to stir up tumult or opposition, as being on the opposing side, and in great numbers, is always far safer and much more profitable than bucking a vested tide! And when that tide is overly laced with the “Bought and Paid For“, then the road to righteousness and patriotic salvation is usually far more difficult than it really needs to be!
Generally, and regrettably so, far too many people these days are political and financial whores - for sale to whatever faction is most profitable to them personally, or safer for them to traverse. Their views, like those of far too many career politicians and men of business these days, are for sale to the highest bidder. And their ethics and integrity are as bogus and fluid as a overly generous dose of laxative, and usually with the same end result, I might add!
Getting back to our Founding Fathers - Not all of these “Experimenters In A New and Democratic Way Of Life” were the sharpest tacks in the box! They, like the rest of us, were but students of democracy. They put but one foot before the other, as do we all, and stumbled more than once along their way. The key, however, is that they arose anew and carried on from there. “And this, after all, is what constitutes a man and a true patriot!”
We all make mistakes, some of them even grievous! It is, however, when we pull ourselves to our feet, dust ourselves off, wipe away the blood and the tears, and then try again, that the true meaning of our greatness can not be defined!
