“A Patriot is a person who is devoted to one’s own country!” And Patriotism is not defined, in my opinion, as being fastened at the hip to foreign agenda and demands. Nor is it ever described as being a blind follower of any particular political party, even when you know that Party’s Rhetoric to be in error!

A patriot, in my opinion, is a free thinker, much in the same fashion as were “Our Founders”. People of action, within the law, who maintained an independence of spirit and being! The doers, the innovators, and a people of courage!

A patriot is not necessarily the tinsel-town, celluloid brand of hero, but rather, a person of ideals, expanding intellect and true grit! A believer in right over wrong, but never a follower of that which, down deep, he knows to be grossly in error!

I have absolutely no use or pride for he who follows for the sake of following alone! The vested political party worshippers, who know down deep in their souls, that something is amiss, morally wrong, or even evil, yet bows at the hip to convention or anything else that goes contrary to their belief and are national pride!

“Many these days claim to be patriots, but not all of these people walk the walk!”

It takes sacrifice, diligence, pride in being, alertness, and most of all, a quiet courage to be a patriot. And he who is more internationalist than true patriot, and yet claims to be out for the common good and his native country first, is fooling no one but himself!
