With the mounting furor over military cremation policies threatening to rip through the Nation’s Capitol, and our returning Gulf War Veterans having to get down on their hands and knees to beg for better educational benefits, and even quality medical care in some cases, many of the over 300,000,000 citizens of “Our Great Country” are getting more than a bit antsy and perturbed! |

http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20080510/news_1n10remains.html Cremation of troops, animals at same facility draws concern
By Lolita C. Baldor ASSOCIATED PRESS May 10, 2008 WASHINGTON – The Pentagon is recommending changes in the handling of service members' remains after it was revealed that a crematorium contracted by the military handles both human and animal cremations. A military official said there have been no instances or allegations that human and pet remains were mixed. “A Patriot is a person who is devoted to one’s own country!” And Patriotism is not defined, in my opinion, as being fastened at the hip to foreign agenda and demands. With the after effects of Cyclone Nargis still being felt in Myanmar (Burma), and the death toll standing at some 22,000 and rising, the United States (as usual) is offering assistance! It makes no difference if some of the nations that we offer to help are hostile, the United States is there with bells on! |

With the Honor Our Fallen Prisoners of War Act now history (Manual of Military Decorations and Awards, DoD Directive 1348.33-M) - soon (by July we hope) to be entered into regulations, my thoughts also drift back to the fight to get the U.S.S. Missouri out to Pearl, The High Year Tenure situation as concerns an adopted Navy kid that we know, and the Ligaya Lagman, Gold Star Mothers situation - long hard fights, one and all, maybe it is time to take a rest! |

Why is it that this new GI Bill is running into so much difficulty- are not our returning veterans of the Gulf War as deserving as those of other conflicts? Why are entire battle fleets still being sauteed out into the potential of harm’s way, even as we speak? Is it a military exercise, or could it be that the half-dozen ships and combat personnel currently on the move from the West Coast are heading for Afghanistan or ???? |

One would certainly think, or at least hope, that those whom we elect
to public office would always be in touch with the will of the
people? Apparently not, if the way that Congress is dragging it's feet on
this New G.I. Bill is any gage!
